AUSTRALIAN COLLECTIONS
1. Pre-decimal collection of mixed mint and used stamps from 1913 to 1978, all housed in a Schaubek hingeless album with red springback binder. This collection is far more complete than usually seen, with quite a few higher value stamps included as the illustration above shows. Some of the key highlights in this album include: first wmk roos 2½d MUHWC with small stain at top, 4d orange, 4d orange-yellow and 9d violet fine used, plus 5d, 6d, 1/- and 2/- avg used; second wmk roos avg used complete to 1/-; third wmk complete to 10/- good to fine used (the 10/- is pictured); small multi roos mostly avg used to 2/- plus the £2 small multi illustrated (very well-centered, somewhat faded with faint nick at right); CofA roos mostly avg to 5/-. The KGV section is virtually complete by wmk and perf in avg to fine used condition; and the general pre-decimals include all of the following: 6d engraved Kooka; 5/- Harbour Bridge in very fine fault-free CTO condition (pictured); Victorian Centenary, Macarthur, Anzac, Sth Aust Centenary, NSW Sesqui and AIF sets all complete in mint hinged condition; Robes thick and thin paper sets of 3 (6 total) all in well-centered MLH condition; Arms to £1 mint plus £2 FU; £2 Navigator mint hinged plus 10/- and £1 white papers used; and nearly every other pre-decimal commem and definitive mostly in mint hinged condition too. But thats not all! The decimal section is mostly complete in mint hinged condition including all of the following: Navigators set of 6, Cook MS ANPEX opt, booklet panes, 1971 Christmas pane of 25 (very clean and all MUH). Condition is mixed throughout but a careful reading of the description above shows there are plenty of nice stamps in this lot! A conservative tally of the stamp-by-stamp retail value present (priced according to condition) adds up to almost $2200, but as a lot this is only view key stamps $1549.00 2. KGV single wmk collection a lovely accumulation of mint single wmk issues from ½d to 5d including shades and some varieties, all hinged to exquisite hand-drawn album pages. Included here are mostly fine examples such as: ½d x3, 1d red die smooth paper x5 different shades; 1½d red; 2d brown x2 shades; 3d blue; 4d olive-green; 4d orange group x5 shades incl. lemon; 4½d violet; and 5d brown x2. Also included are 11 varieties including 1d green "flaw below neck", "run N", "RA joined", "thin ONE PENNY" and "secret mark"; 1½d "HALEPENCE" and "thin RAL"; and 1d violet "RA joined". All the stamps are mint, centering does vary but as a group this looks quite impressive! The retail value of this lot (priced according to condition) adds up to $600, but as a lot these are all only $449.00 3. Pre-decimal collection of used stamps from 1913 to 1965, all hinged on older-style Seven Seas pages in a green springback binder. This is remarkably complete for the period, with very few gaps remaining to be filled! The older-style layout lists kangaroos in a simplified format and is complete up to 5/- plus a 6d OS overprint; the KGV pages are also simplified and are almost complete including OS overprints (only the 4d lemon is absent). Condition of the roos and KGV tends towards the average end of the spectrum but of course this is taken account in the price! The general pre-decimal issues are much better overall and all of the following highlights are present: 6d engraved Kookaburra; Kingsford Smith OS overprints very fine CTO; 6d brown Kingsford Smith airmail; 5/- Sydney Harbour Bridge CTO (slight toning at right but well-centered); Macarthur set of 4; 1935 Anzac and KGV Jubilee sets complete; Robes thin paper set of 3; Arms set of 4; Navigators VFU set of 6 plus a £1 white paper also FU; and of course nearly every other definitive and commemorative for the 1927-65 period. Add up the retail value of the just the highlights and see how much you will save - it is not every collection that has a 5/- Bridge in it! Offered as one lot, all for just $849.00 4. Pre-decimal collection of mint stamps from 1913 to 1965, all housed in a pristine Seven Seas hingeless album with matching binder and slipcase. If you are looking for a top quality starter collection for yourself or another this is the perfect place to look, as the album would cost almost $150 to purchase new, but this lot also includes more than 220 different mint stamps! Most are naturally at the less expensive end but there are some nicer items too such as: 1932 6d brown Kooka and 1/- Lyrebird MLH; 3d Bridge MUH; 9d NSW Sesqui MLH; 3d blue KGVI die II thick paper MUH; 3d blue KGVI die III MUH; thick paper Robes 5/- and 10/- MUH plus thin paper Robes 5/- MUH and 10/- very lightly hinged; 1940 AIF set complete (3d and 6d are MUH); 1959-62 Animals MUH set of 6; 10/- Navigator MUH and 1964-65 Birds MUH set of 8. The condition of all the highlights mentioned above is excellent, some of the unmentioned stamps present may not be so good but at the price we are asking for this album youre not paying for any of them! Our list price for all the good-condition stamps listed above adds up to more than $235, and when you consider that the as-new album is worth almost $150 this whole collection is a great buy at just $319.00 AUSTRALIAN COLONIES
