AUSTRALIAN COLONIES

1. New South Wales 1867 10d lilac overprinted "SPECIMEN" diagonally in black (SG 205s), a mint block of four with the specimen misplaced several millimetres to the left so it covers two stamps instead of just one. Catalogued at £25 per unit as a "normal" opt, however you can get this whole block of four for just $79.00
2. New South Wales 1897 2½d Consumptives Homes multicoloured stamp (SG 281) in mint hinged condition. In much better condition that usually seen, yours for $175.00

KANGAROOS

5. 1d red on OHMS notice an official document marked "NOTIFICATION OF A CASE OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE", postmarked 31JA14 in Kyneton, Victoria. I have never this type of notice before, which is a pre-printed form in which a doctor advises detection of a disease (diptheria, in this case) to the local Council with particulars of the patient. Designed to be folded and sealed with a stamp affixed at top right, this is an unusual kangaroo usage in top condition $89.00

We were overwhelmed with interest in all the double perf varieties advertised in list #100, they are obviously very popular as they sold almost immediately! AUSTRALIAN KGV

36. 2d postal forgery in 1932 these forgeries were used to mail out forged Irish Sweepstakes tickets. Tipped off by a vigilant stamp collector, prompt action by the authorities led to the creators of this forgery being caught and ultimately imprisoned before many were posted. Only six covers are recorded and mint examples are still very scarce. They are easily identified by the rougher printing style, and they are also perf 11 on unwatermarked paper! This particular example is a variety of the variety, as it has a large break in bottom frame at left. Well centered, very lightly hinged and clean, for view stamp $1049.00
