41. 1d green CofA wmk ‘crinkle flaw’ block of 20 this unusual item, comprising two complete vertical columns of 20 with selvedge top and bottom in mint condition, comes with a detailed typed explanation of what the ‘crinkle flaw’ represents: "It consists of a nick in the bottoms of 16, 22, 28, 34, 40 and 46. It is not a roller flaw as it is not constant in position. It represents damage to the plate and occurred late 1934 or early 1935 and was quickly noticed and repaired. This specimen was printed from a clean plate early in the day’s run. There is no sign of compartment marks. Nevertheless there is a marked absence of minor flaws common to CofA printings." This description very accurately describes the bumps seen in the bottom of six of the units! I cannot find a mention of this variety in the current ACSC, however a pencil notation at the bottom states this is ex-Charles Hosking collection". The whole block for $525.00
42. 1½d red small multi wmk perf 14 plate 1 block of 24 in MUH condition, with several varieties included! This album has plenty to offer, including quite a few nicer decimal issues such as: decimal Navigator SPECIMENS mint hinged set of 4 (some gum toning); 4c red QEII booklet panes complete set of 6 slogans all MUH; 5c on 4c red QEII booklet panes complete set of 6 slogans all MUH except for one; 1969 Flight block of 9 MUH; 1971 Emergency Air Mail Service; 1971 Christmas set of 7 singles plus white paper pane of 25 all MUH; 1972 Primary Industries and Christmas; Paintings high values; 1986 Papal Visit gutter strip of 10; 1988 37c Arrival gutter strip of 10 with Melbourne Stamp and Coin Show overprint in gutter; The Early Years gutter strip of 10 with Sydney Stamp and Coin Show overprint in gutter; plus loads of other early booklet panes, and the most of the defins and commemoratives for the period all MUH. The face value of mint stamps adds up to more than $320, and when you consider that some of the premium items like Xmas pane of 25 sell for up to $80 this collection is brilliant value at just $329.00
88. Australian collection of mint and used stamps from 1986 to 1998, all housed on Seven Seas hingeless pages in a green binder. This collection is almost complete for the period, with nearly every space filled with a mint or CTO stamp including most of the gutter pairs! The face value of the MUH stamps alone adds up to more than $145, and in addition there are hundreds of used, CTO or mint no gum stamps that would add up to hundreds of dollars retail. When you consider that the album pages alone would cost more than $150 to purchase new, this collection represents amazing value at only $209.00
89. China reprints collection a privately printed folder containing reprints of many famous (and expensive!) Cultural Revolution sets, such as: 1967 Long Live Mao’s Thought set of 11 (incl. 2 strips of 5), 1967 Poems of Mao set of 14, 1968 Instructions from Mao strip of 5, 1968 Whole Country is Red single. There are more than 10 sets in total, and each is printed with a diagonal bar in the bottom right corner so there is no risk of confusing them with the originals. However given the value of the genuine sets, this is the closest most will get to filling those spaces! I have seen this folder advertised overseas for $150 or more, here it is only $69.00
90. Great Britain collection of used stamps from 1860 to 2000, all housed on hagner pages in two binders. There are more than 1300 different stamps in this album (and most are duplicated, bringing the total number of stamps to well over 2500!), including loads of pre-decimals, decimal commemoratives, machins and even the £10 Brittania in joined pair. 91. Great Britain and NZ Cover collection housed in two small binders containing from Great Britain 60 covers from 1938 to 1988, mostly FDCs but also some air letters and postcards as well. From New Zealand there are over 100 covers from 1937 to 1984, including Health souvenir covers, First Day Covers addressed and unaddressed, Lighthouse cover and more. Most of the early covers are a little toned while the newer ones are clean, at this price it’s excellent value in any condition! The lot for $79.00
92. Guernsey and Jersey collection of mint stamps from 1969 to 1976, all housed in a slim blue stockbook with slipcase. This small but very tidy collection contains virtually every issue from Guernsey for the period, more than 20 sets with a combined catalogue value of over £45. The Jersey section is equally concise, with 25 full sets catalogued at over £50. Get all these issues in one volume for only $59.00
93. Malta collection of used stamps from 1946 to 2005, all housed in a brown Davo stockbook. A great lot for the modern used collector, as there is lots of useful duplication (postmarks, shades, etc) in this album. I haven’t had the time to count but there would be several thousand stamps in total comprising hundreds and hundreds of different designs. All for just $149.00
94. New Guinea, NWPI and Papua collection in mint condition, all neatly arranged on hagner pages in a blue binder. This is the perfect starter collection for anyone wanting to start this popular and historic field, as it contains lots of nicer sets missing only the expensive top values in good condition. Included in this album from New Guinea: Huts airmails set to 1/- plus 5/- (10); dated Birds set to 5/- (11); dated Birds airmails set to 5/- (12); 10/- undated Birds (SG 188) in very good MLH condition; undated Birds airmails set to 1/-, plus the 5/- mint and £1 fine used; Bulolos set to 1/- (10) plus £1 unused with slight nick at top; Huts OS complete set of 9 and dated Birds OS set complete except for the 5/-. That lot comprises the vast majority of New Guinea stamps, but also present from Papua are: more than 25 assorted early Lakatois including British New Guinea 4d and 6d thick paper wmk horizontal, and 2x large Papua 2/6 black and brown; monocolours set of 8 complete; 1d overprints set of 6; bicolour Lakatois complete except for the 10/-; Airmail surcharges (6); 1932 pictorials set to 5/- plus VFU 10/-; all the commems from 1934 onwards complete including both sets of airmails; and the Lakatoi OS overprints complete set of 12. But wait, there’s more! From NWPI there are also 10 different KGV heads including 4d violet and 4d blue. 95. New Zealand collection of mint stamps from 1935 to 1992, all housed on hand-made album pages in a springback binder. This little album packs quite a punch, with loads of pre-decimal sets present including 1935 Airmails, 1935 KGV Jubilee and 1940 Centenary plus the majority of less expensive commemoratives up to 1966. While the condition of some of the early stamps is a little aged, they are priced appropriately in this lot. The decimal section is even more attractive, with over 150 sets all in clean condition and sometimes unhinged, and it includes some nicer sets such as the early decimal definitives and 1970 Cook Bicentenary set of 4 both MUH. The face value of the mint decimals adds up to more than NZ$325, so this album is a great way to extend your NZ collection. For $199.00
