On Sale Now List #103 - Happy Australia Day!

My morning drive to work is starting to take a little longer, so I guess by now many of you will be going back to (four letter word) W-O-R-K! Well to make you feel better we have some very nice lots to play with in this list, things to keep you busy when you come home. And also for the weekend, especially when we are heading into the Australia Day long break!

AUSTRALIAN COLLECTIONS

1. Pre-decimal collection of mostly CTO stamps from 1914 to 1937, all housed on Seven Seas pages in a green binder. This small collection contains all the key non-roo and non-OS stamps from the period including: 6d engraved Kooka CTO with gum; 1928 Kooka MS mint lightly hinged (suntanned gum, but great from the front); Kingsford Smith OS CTO set of 2; 5/- Harbour Bridge in well-centered CTO condition (see above); Victorian Centenary both perf sets complete CTO; plus the Macarthur, Anzac, Jubilee, SA Centenary and NSW Sesqui sets all complete in CTO condition. This lot also includes the other non-roo and non-KGV commems and definitives from the period, what a great lot at $539.00
2. Australian collection of used stamps from 1913 to 1968 in blue stockbook. This album is set up like a circuit dealer’s book, with centre dividers on each page and all the stamps neatly arranged with Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbers and prices noted in pencl. Close inspection reveals quite a few scarcer stamps are present here, such as: more than 50 roos including 6d second wmk and 1/- first wmk x2; 6d brown Kingford Smith; 1/- Victoria Centenary x3; 1/- Anzac; 2/- Jubilee; lots of KGVI definitives; 1966 Birds x2 and 1966 Navigators x4. These are merely the highlights, as also present are literally hundreds of other Australian stamps all neatly laid out in order with quite a bit of useful duplication as well. It would be fair to say condition is generally at the average end of the spectrum but all the highlights mentioned above are fault-free, expand your early Australian stamps today for $129.00
3. Australian collection one for the kids, or perhaps as a "bit of fun" for yourself, this stockbook contains hundreds of Australian stamps in used condition including: 25 assorted Colonial stamps from Queensland, Sth Australia and Tasmania; more than 90 KGV heads from ½d green to 5d; a smattering of kangaroos; and over 200 pre-decimals and 500 decimals. Condition is mixed and there is a bit of duplication and toning as you’d expect for a basic collection, however at this price it’s still good value! $99.00
4. Pre-decimal collection of mostly MUH stamps from 1937 to 1965 in blocks of 4, all housed on hagner pages in a black binder. This is an accumulation of "cheapie" stamps, ie. those definitives and commemoratives that usually retail for 15c each. But what an accumulation! There are more than 110 different issues present here, mostly in blocks of four, and the total number of mint stamps (many MUH) present is well in excess of 800 (plus heaps of used stamps too that are not counted in these totals at all!). Great for the bulk collector or reseller who wants to build their stock, the lot for $89.00
5. Decimal collection one for the commercially used collector who likes lots of duplication and a wide range of postmarks, this collection comprises 8 slim stockbooks containing more than 7500 stamps from 1966 to 1985! Obviously collected from mail clippings and bulk from the period, all the stamps are neatly arranged in tidy rows throughout the books with the occasional block present too. Almost worth it for the stockbooks alone, get the lot for $99.00
6. Decimal booklet collection of more than 95 booklets from 1966 to 1998, all housed on a mix of Seven Seas illustrated hingeless pages and FDC leaves in a black binder. This collection includes quite a few scarce booklets in good condition, such as: 1966 4c red QEII "Registered Post"; 5c on 4c 50c temporary booklet plus 50c and $1 permanent booklets; both types of Vietnam booklets; $1 Prime Ministers; and Parramatta booklet with 20c Yellow Robin. From 1980 onwards a wide range of standard booklets plus paper and overprint varieties are included, too many to list here in full (eg. there are 14 different overprints!). Condition is generally excellent and these have a retail value of more than $1100, get them all for only $649.00
7. Cover collection of more than 130 items from 1978 to 1982, housed in two binders. This diverse lot contains over 80 first day covers (incl. some Australian Antarctic Territory first day covers with mainland cancels), 39 pre-stamped envelopes both mint and first day issue cancelled, and several items of "other" postal stationery such as aerogrammes and special cancels. Priced to sell, get the lot for just $69.00
