OSN #108 - A wonderful wedding and a great holiday!
Thank you all so much for your kind wishes and inquiries regarding my daughters recent wedding. Nicky and her husband have arrived home safe and sound after a wonderful honeymoon and holiday - you can see a photo of their special day here. Thank you all for keeping poor Damien so very busy in my absence, it was much appreciated. I trust you will find something tempting in this list, as we have been fortunate recently to buy some lovely collections as well as a fine range of single stamps
AUSTRALIAN COLLECTIONS
1. Australian collection of mostly mint stamps from 1914 to 1990, all housed on Seven Seas hingeless pages. This collection begins with a smattering KGV heads, but really gets going with a 6d engraved Kookaburra CTO and superb CTO 5/- Sydney Harbour Bridge in the early pre-decimals. It continues with loads of quality better stamps such as: 1935 Anzac MUH set of 2; 1/- South Australia and 9d NSW Sesqui both MLH; thick paper Robes MUH set of 3; Arms mint set of 4 with the £1 and £2 unhinged; 5/- Cattle white paper MLH; pre-decimal Navigators MUH set of 6; decimal Navigators MUH set of 6; 1970 Cook MS ovpt ANPEX MUH; and 1971 Christmas block of 7 plus singles. As usual with our descriptions, we have only mentioned the highlights above! Almost every other commemorative and definitive from 1927 onwards is also present in either mint or used condition, and from 1955 onwards it is virtually all mint and mostly unhinged. Condition is a little mixed in the early section but all the items detailed above are in fine condition, and from the 1950s onwards almost every stamp is in top form (see some of the better stamps illustrated in the link below). Also included up the back are all AAT stamps from 1957 to 1989 also on Seven Seas hingeless pages, all MUH including the 1966 decimals. Our list price just for the better pre-decimal Australian items mentioned above adds up to more than $825, and the face value of the decimal section is more than $350! When you consider the album pages are worth over $300 without the stamps plus all the other stamps also included here (eg. the AAT stamps retail for more than $90), this album is a great buy at only view key values 1 | view key values 2 $1199.00 2. Australian collection of mostly mint stamps from 1927 to 1990, all housed on Seven Seas hingeless pages (with pages included for the earlier issues too). This is like a baby version of the lot above, with the more expensive items absent to keep within your budget. You still get heaps for your money, as this lot has over 225 different pre-decimal stamps such as: 1/- South Aust. MLH; Arms FU set of 4; 5/- Cattle white paper FU; pre-decimal Birds MUH set of 8; plus decimal Navs MUH set of 6 and 1971 Christmas MUH block of 7. Condition is generally very good with only a handful of items toned or damaged, and from 1978 onwards it is all mint unhinged and perfect. The face value of the decimal section adds up to more than $325, so along with the hundreds of pre-decimals and the Seven Seas pages (which would cost $300+ to buy brand new) this lot is excellent value at just $399.00 3. Stamp Packs collection this lot contains loads of stamp packs from 1970s to 2001, all in good condition. There are over a hundred different stamp packs from across the period here, with two of each pack present in most cases. Stamp packs are not so popular these days but all the stamps are in fine MUH condition, and in fact theyre quite a bit scarcer as packs than as sets! The total face value in this lot is $887, so this bargain lot wont last long at $449.00 AUSTRALIAN COLONIES

22. £2 CofA wmk certified MUH (SG 138) a superb and pristinely original example of the last of the £2 kangaroos (illustrated above). The picture really does say it all for this one: excellent colour, good centering and tidy perfs make this an extremely attractive stamp. It is also supplied with a 2008 Ceremuga certificate stating it is "mint with never hinged and very fresh original gum". Mint £2 roos are scarce stamps in any condition, however our research shows that a comparable quality MUH example of this stamp has not been offered by a major Australian auction house in the past two years. The most recent (and very similar) example we can find sold in 2006 for a net price of $9990, suggesting the retail value at the time was $11,000+.
