KANGAROOS

1. Kangaroo collection comprising 85 used stamps from ½d to 2/- brown, with the first three watermarks represented. Some of the stamps included here are: first wmk complete to 1/- including 6x 3d, 4d orange x1, 4d orange-yellow x1, 5d x1, 6d x5, 9d x7 and 1/- x3; second wmk 2d grey x5, 1/- x6; and third wmk 2d grey inverted x3, 6d blue x7, 9d x12, and 5x 2/- brown. Condition is generally classed as "average used" but some are actually better than that, and the retail value of items priced at $5 or more (according to condition) adds up to more than $700! This is a great lot to sort though and extend your collection, for only view page 1 | view page 2 $479.00
2. ½d green no monogram strip of three with double perfs all round What a stunning exhibition piece: this combines the rarity of a no monogram strip of 3 with double perforations on all four sides throughout the block. In fact, this is the only recorded no monogram piece with double perfs all round. 5. 1d red die II watermark sideways (ACSC 3aa) in average used condition as the illustration. Not the finest example, with a pulled perf at bottom and is toned, but with a now-dated catalogue value of $400 (2004) this is a well-priced and affordable stamps at only view stamp $139.00

30. 10/- grey and pink third wmk (SG 43) joined pair in used condition. Multiples of the higher values are much harder to find than singles, and partial separation at top does not detract (and could easily be reinforced). Each stamp is clean and fault-free, and at this price it would be good value even if the pair was separated! Available for view pair $349.00
31. 10/- grey and pink third wmk (SG 43) in used condition, centered to bottom right but very lightly cancelled. Don’t pay $375 or more, this stamp is only view stamp $309.00
32. 10/- grey and pink CofA wmk (SG 136) in fine used condition, a nice and clean stamp without any faults. For view stamp $149.00

34. £1 light brown and pale blue third wmk in used condition, nicely centered and clean without faults. Some dealers now ask $1850+ for lesser quality than this, get this stamp today for only view stamp $1399.00
35. £2 black and rose small multi wmk (SG 114) in mint lightly hinged condition. This is a beautiful stamp, with good centering, great colour and a fresh, vibrant appearance. What a difference one short perf at top makes, as this stamp would sell for more than $6000 if the errant perf was intact! That missing perf must be one of the most expensive square millimetres in philately, because its absence makes this stamp a great value option. A desirable item in every other sense, this stamp is available at almost half the usual price at view stamp $3399.00
36. £2 black and red small multi wmk (SG 114) in used condition, very well-centered and lightly cancelled with just one short perf at base. Otherwise lovely, only view stamp $549.00
37. £2 black and red CofA wmk (SG 138) in very lightly used condition. Sadly someone has tried to re-perf this stamp to improve the centering, but it is a very clean example. An excellent spacefiller, for view stamp $199.00
38. First watermark large OS (SG O1-O11) in used condition, comprising all stamps from ½d to 2/-. The condition does vary in this lot with most classed as average used, however the 2/- brown is clean and well-centered (worth $200+ on its own!). Get all 11 stamps for just $399.00

126. Natal 1857-61 1/- buff Arms embossed in plain relief on coloured wove paper (SG 7), in fine used condition with grille cancel of Pietermaritzburg as illustrated above. The earliest stamps of some colonies were printed in such a simple fashion that both official and non-official reprints could be (and often were) made in later years, which could be very hard to distinguish from the real deal. The extreme difficulty of obtaining genuine stamps of this type means many collectors simply do not try to fill these gaps, which is a shame. It is with great pleasure that we can offer a genuine stamp from the earliest days of Natal, with a 2006 Royal Philatelic Society of London certificate stating it is genuine. Catalogued at £5500, this stamp is yours for $1749.00
