AUSTRALIAN COLLECTIONS

1. Australian collection of mint and used stamps from 1966 to 2005, all housed in a large white-page Lighthouse stockbook. The early section of this collection is mostly used, however during the 1970s-early 2000s period many sets are present both mint and used (sometimes with multiple used sets), and from the late-1990s onwards most sets are MUH. While not complete this does include hundreds and hundreds of sets from throughout the period, and yes the modern section does include quite a few minisheets and self-adhesive issues. The face value of the mint stamps adds up to over $750, there are more than 20 CTO sets from 2000 onwards that normally retail for $3+ each. Great for those who like to collect more than one (or are building up their stock of modern issues), for $499.00
2. Australian Yearbook collection a complete set of yearbooks from 1981 to 2006, all in top condition complete with stamps. Our list price for these albums adds up to more than $1300, and I have heard of some years selling very recently on eBay for more than double our list price! Buy a complete set and save more than 25% (the price of this lot is actually below the face value of the stamps included!), all 26 books for $969.00

47. 1d green CofA wmk ‘crinkle flaw’ block of 20 this unusual item, comprising two complete vertical columns of 20 with selvedge top and bottom in mint condition, comes with a detailed typed explanation of what the ‘crinkle flaw’ represents: "It consists of a nick in the bottoms of 16, 22, 28, 34, 40 and 46. It is not a roller flaw as it is not constant in position. It represents damage to the plate and occurred late 1934 or early 1935 and was quickly noticed and repaired. This specimen was printed from a clean plate early in the day’s run. There is no sign of compartment marks. Nevertheless there is a marked absence of minor flaws common to CofA printings." 116. New Zealand collection of mixed mint and used stamps covering the period 1858 to 1967, all housed on hand-drawn album pages in a red binder. This is the one of the best NZ lots we have offered for a long time, because it contains many of the early Queen Victoria issues usually missing from most collections. There are more than 90 used Queen Victoria stamps here, including quite a few better ones such as: 1858 1d and 6d imperf no wmk Chalons (cat. £950); 3 different shades of the 1862 imperf Chalons; 18 perforated Chalons including 3d deep mauve, 4d yellow, 6d blue and what appears to be 1867 3d lilac imperf one side; 12 first sidefaces up to 1/- green; over 50 second sidefaces with a number of perf types all neatly annotated, plus some advertisements and varieties too; 65+ 1898-1909 pictorials in a wide range of wmks and perfs all neatly noted, including 1899-1903 6d green Pirie paper perf 11 x2 shades and 5/- Cook fine used; 1902-09 perf 11 2/- and 5/- and perf 14 5/- all used too amongst many others. But all that is only the beginning - the King Edward VII, KGV, KGVI and QEII eras are not neglected! A short list of the highlights here includes: 1906 Christchurch Exhibition mint set of 4 in good condition (cat. £250); 18 1907-08 small pictorials including perf 14x13 6d and 1/- used; 16 King Edward VII heads used to 1/-; dozens of KGV heads both types incl. perf variations; 1920 Victory set of 6 used; 1925 Dunedin Exhibition set of 3 both mint and used, plus "POSTAGF" flaw on the 4d mint (cat. £100); Admirals 3x 2/- and 2x 3/- all used; 1931 Smiling Boys fine used; 1931 Airmails mint set of 3; 1940 5/6 on 5/6 lilac postal fiscal used; 1960 pictorials mint set of 23; 1967. These are only the obvious highlights, there are hundreds more stamps also included, with the majority of issues from KGVI onward present mint and/or used including several Health MS. Condition of some of the earlier issues is a little mixed with some toning or thins, however from the 1898 pictorials onwards the quality improves considerably. Early NZ stamps can be notoriously difficult to grasp, with the immense variety of watermarks, perforations and papers to understand, and this collection makes it a lot easier to learn with hours and hours of cataloguing work already done for you. With a catalogue value well in excess of £6200, this is a brilliant way to expand your NZ collection. The entire album is $1999.00
