This is the last Stamp News produced with Elaine Evans as publication manager. Elaine has been the heart and soul of this magazine for many years, and while many are quick to criticise the smallest problem Elaine is the unsung hero who deserves great credit for ensuring the Stamp News gets to you at all. In the 15 years I have know her I have become used to that happy voice on the end of the phone which almost never says "no" - instead 99% of the time it’s "I can do that" (even if it means working all night or through the weekend to meet the deadline). For the time being we will continue to advertise here, but I wish the new management well in finding a replacement half as capable as Elaine. You will always remain a good friend Elaine and we will miss your commitment to the readers and advertisers of Stamp News. Good luck!

	AUSTRALIA
1.	First wmk 6d ultramarine with "defective second E of pence" variety (ACSC 17g) in used condition. There is an expertly flattened vertical fold along the stamp that is not visible from the front, and with a catalogue value of $300 is well-priced at	$179.00
2.	First watermark kangaroos the 2/- and 5/- values (SG 12-13) in average used condition, still nice and you will save over 50% off our list price	$99.00
3.	First watermark kangaroos handstamped "SPECIMEN" in mint condition. These three stamps do have the odd minor fault such as a short perf or a slight stain at the base of the £2 value, but these stamps are scarce in any condition and will be prized in any roo collector’s album view stamps	$829.00
4.	Second watermark kangaroos set of 7 in average used condition, and only the 6d ultramarine has some minor toning	$249.00
5.	Third watermark kangaroos punctured small OS, the 2/- and 10/- values only in cancelled-to-order condition. The 10/- has one short perf but that is the only fault on these excellent stamps	$99.00
6.	Small multi wmk kangaroos the 10/- and £2 values overprinted "SPECIMEN" in MLH condition. The 10/- has a couple of short perfs at top but the £2 is very nice	$499.00
7.	CofA wmk 10/- grey and pink kangaroo used stamp with large "Meekatharra" postmark neatly framing the kangaroo design	$99.00
8.	CofA watermark kangaroos overprinted "SPECIMEN" in mint hinged condition. The £1 is stained on the back but the 10/- and £2 are good, save $30 off our list price, this trio only	$59.00
9.	6d engraved Kooka SG 19 a lovely mint unhinged example of this classic Australian stamp view stamp	$179.00
10.	6d engraved Kooka the same stamp with a neat cancelled-to order postmark. There is one short perf bottom left but this is still a very attractive stamp that looks great	$49.00
11.	1928 Kookaburra MS two minisheets joined, with the left sheet postmarked at the Exhibition in red ink. The cancelled MS has MUH gum, while the ordinary sheet is mint very lightly hinged with only one small tone spot on the edge. Unusual	$629.00
12.	1928 Kookaburra MS a single minisheet with minor gum markings, from the front this is a stunning item. Full perfs and good centering made for a nice stamp at a space-filler price	$99.00
13.	1935 KGV Jubilee set of 3 in mint condition Ash imprint blocks of four	$139.00
14.	1935 KGV Jubilee 2/- violet block of four with plate number 1 in the selvedge top and left. There is a minor tone spot in the selvedge visible only from the back, plus two of the stamps are unhinged mint, this scarce piece available for	$179.00
15.	1936 South Australia Centenary set of 3 in imprint blocks of four, the two lower values are hinged and the 1/- is unhinged and lightly folded down the middle (not affecting the stamps themselves)	$79.00
16.	1940 Australian Imperial Forces set in imprint blocks of four, two units of each block unhinged and two hinged. All well-centered blocks, just	$69.00
17.	1/- Lyrebird perf 13.5 x 14 very neat wide Ash imprint block of four (ACSC 208zb) in mint condition, two stamps hinged (one with very slight thin) and two unhinged, all are well centered and fresh, the whole block for	$99.00
18.	1/6 Hermes no wmk John Ash imprint block of four with retouch (ACSC 161za). The top two stamps (including retouch) are lightly hinged, the other two are clean and unhinged	$299.00
19.	1932 5/- Harbour Bridge mint unhinged stamp (SG 143) with full original gum and partial imprint at bottom. MUH examples of this classic stamp are getting scarcer and scarcer, so don’t delay view stamp	$729.00

23.	Robes thin paper set of 3 in bottom left corner imprint blocks of four, there are some hinge remains in the selvedge but the stamps themselves are pristine and untouched, the lot for	$585.00

25.	Pre-decimal Navigators full set of 8 mint unhinged including both papers of the 10/- and £1. The centering on a couple of stamps is not perfect but you will save over 15% off our list price, the lot for	$199.00

27.	Pre-decimal Navigators set of four overprinted "SPECIMEN" mint lightly hinged, our list price is $350 but this set a gift at only	$249.00
28.	BCOF set full set of 7 mint unhinged, the 5/- is actually the thin paper variety	$139.00
29.	Australian booklet collection a very fine collection housed in two dedicated booklet albums with ASBA inserts covering the period 1949-1997. The first volume (green) contains 10 pre-decimal booklets including some scarce items such as: 1949-50 2/6 booklet (B55); 1952-53 3/6 booklet with revised text and wax interleave (B56Cv catalogued at $200); 1960-62 5/- booklet with wax interleave (B62v); and 1964-65 5/- booklet edition G1 with wax interleave (partly separated). This volume also includes: 4x 1966-67 helecon ink 60c booklets, 3x 1966-67 helecon paper 60c booklets, and 4x 50c 5c on 4c booklets each type with different slogans; a Vietnam booklet and 3x Football booklets; plus the most of the subsequent original printing booklets (plus a few reprints and overprints too). The second (red) volume is from 1992-end 1997 and is also not quite complete, but does have some exhibition overprints as well. I have seen the pre-decimal booklets on other dealers’ lists priced at almost $900, the helecon booklets are on our list at $90 each plus of course the Vietnam and Football booklets (list price $430). The total face value of the rest of the decimal section is over $460.00, and despite a little toning on some booklets this collection is a real bargain at only	$1899.00

	BRITISH COMMONWEALTH
30.	Straits Settlements 1867-72 full simplified set of 9 (SG 11-19) in used condition	$69.00
31.	Straits Settlements 1867-72 short set to 12c of this early Queen Victoria set in mint condition (SG 11-15), over £300 catalogue for	$149.00
32.	Straits Settlements 1883-91 crown CA wmk set complete except for the 12c and 96c values in fine mint condition	$39.00
33.	Straits Settlements 1883-91 crown CA wmk set as above but this one complete (SG 63a-71), all nine stamps for	$49.00
34.	Straits Settlemens 1902-03 King Edward VII set (SG 110-21) complete in used condition, the $1 value is slightly toned but the others are nice. Currently catalogued at £275, this set is a bargain	$139.00
35.	Straits Settlements 1921-33 KGV $25 purple and black on blue paper (SG 240b) in used condition. Quite heavy cancellations are to be expected, and this stamp is well centered with full perfs and no thins, just a mild fold that is barely visible. Only view stamp	$69.00

	COLLECTIONS
36.	Straits Settlements collection in three stockbooks covering the period 1854-1935 in both mint and used condition. This is a great find for the specialist, because it contains for many issues literally dozens of examples of each value for the study of different shades (some unlisted), postmarks and die varieties. A comprehensive listing would be too long to list here, but to give an idea of the extent of this collection some of the highlights include: from the 1867 series 1½c on ½a used, 3c on 1c brown mint plus 3 used, 4c on 1a brown used, 6x 8c on 2a yellow used, 12c on 4a green used, 4x 24c on 8a rose and 8x 32c on 2a yellow; from the 1867-72 issues almost two dozen used examples of each value in the set (up to 96c), plus lots of mint stamps including some blocks of four of the lower values; 18 unchecked 10c on 30c claret 1880 stamps; 8 used sets of the 1882 5c purple-brown and 10c slate stamps (cat. value £145 per pair); dozens more of the 1883-91 series including 4x 96c used; 1884 8c on 12 brown-purple mint (SG 75 catalogued at £225); 2 mint and 1 used of the 1884 8c on 8c on 12 c surcharge (SG 80); scores of mint and used 1892 overprints plus lots of used 1892-99 issue stamps up to and including 1 mint and 15 used 50c; 1902-03 King Edward VII set used to $5; 1904-10 King Edward VII mint/used to $5; 1906-07 overprints on Labuan mint complete except for the 2c including extra copies of most values; 1906-12 series mostly used up to $5 including 9x $1, 12x $2 and 6x $5; 1912-23 KGV issues mint and used up to and including 7x $5; the 1921-33 series also with lots of examples of each issue such as 9x $5 and 1 used $25 (torn corner); and 2 used sets of 1935 KGV Jubilee. Also present are some perfin and postmark varieties such as 3x 1854 2a green of India used in Singapore (SG Z64); 7 Straits Settlements stamps used in Bangkok. Added individually one would find well over £6000 catalogue value in these albums, and although there is some toning, thins or other faults or fiscal cancels on a number of the stamps there is more than enough good quality material to satisfy the fussiest collector. Pick out what you really need and I reckon you could almost get your money back on the rest, this goldmine of Straits Settlements stamps for	$1899.00
