MEET GABRIELE

Gabriele in office2Firstly, welcome to Gabriele’s Philatelic Service.

I’ve been a collector from as young as I can remember (I used to mischievously remove the stamps from all of my neighbours mail, and just throw away the letters, much to their delight!) and have always had a love of stamps. My first job was packing orders in a local stamp shop after school and during the holidays. Stamps have been a part of my life from a very early age.

My big break came in my early twenties when I served my apprenticeship under Mr. Max Cohen, a renowned stamp dealer who was located in Sydney’s Wesley Arcade. Max, whose reputation is known across the globe, taught me the fundamentals of philately, to have an exceptional attention to detail, to be honest and to treat all customers the way I would want to be treated. These standards became indebted in me and remain core values in my business today.

During my time in the industry I was fortunate enough to work closely and befriend Mr. Ken Baker, one of Australia’s oldest philatelists and a true gentleman of stamps (Ken recently turned 100 and had been collecting since he was a boy so you do the math!) With Ken’s support, belief and guidance in 1988 I branched out and started my own business, Gabriele’s Philatelic Service. Originally located in Castleraegh Street in the Sydney CB. I would go on to spend over 20 years in the city. More recently Gabriele’s Philatelic Service has relocated to the relaxed Sydney southern beaches suburb of Cronulla so that I can work closer to home.

I am Australia’s only professional female philatelist, something I am very proud of, I take great pleasure in giving my customers a relaxed and personable experience when either buying or selling stamps with me. Through stamps I have been able to travel to many cities across the globe for different auctions and shows (the Arthur W. Gray sale in New York in 2007 being a particular highlight) as well as many major auctions in London. How lucky am I that I get to do this for a job!

Stamps are my passion, and I look forward to sharing this with you and hope that I can help build your collection or equally help you make decisions regarding the sale of your collection or that of one of your family members.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Kind regards, Gabriele
